Engine Fault Warning
WarningBYD · Engine System
What does this warning light mean?
The Engine Malfunction Warning Light (MIL) illuminates briefly during startup as part of the system self-check and should turn off within seconds—this is normal. If the light stays on while driving, it indicates the engine management system has detected a fault. This could involve the fuel injection, ignition, or emissions control systems, or a sensor malfunction. Note: This warning will not appear on DM-i models when operating in pure electric mode.
Can I drive?
With caution
What to do
Arrange to visit an authorised BYD service centre as soon as possible. Until you get there, avoid aggressive driving and maintain a steady, moderate speed. If you experience significant power loss, or notice abnormal noises or vibrations, pull over and stop in a safe location immediately.
