Child Presence Detection Fault Warning Light

Warning
BYD · Safety

This warning light indicates the Child Presence Detection (CPD) system has malfunctioned. This system uses millimetre-wave radar and sensors to monitor whether children or pets have been left inside the vehicle after it has been switched off and locked. When functioning properly, it is a vital safety feature that prevents children from being accidentally trapped inside. With the system faulty, it cannot detect occupants in the cabin, creating a serious risk if a child is forgotten in the vehicle—particularly in hot conditions. This feature is equipped on newer BYD models such as the Han L and Seal 06.

With caution

Contact a BYD authorised service centre promptly to have the system diagnosed and repaired. Until fixed, you must manually check the entire cabin—including rear seats and the boot—for children and pets every time you exit the vehicle. Do not rely on the automated system while this warning is displayed, especially during hot Australian summers when cabin temperatures can reach dangerous levels rapidly.
